Exhaust System
8/6/00:First try at V8 exhaust system removed and ready to be discarded!!!!!!!!!!
The exhaust manifolds were ok, but they necked down to less than 2"
The Turbo II mufflers were not up to the task of muffling the Fiero. The muffler for the left side
exhaust self destructed after about 200 miles.
I replaced the left side muffler and then the muffler on the right side exhaust died about 100 miles
later. The scratches on the bottom were from draging it out from under the car after removal. They
were not the cause of the destruction. What was the cause? I don't know.
New exhaust ready to install:
Sanderson CC90 Headers These are the best sealing headers I have ever used. The flange is very thick and does not warp like other headers I have on my other cars.
I used Flowtech Afterburner mufflers. I am hoping that with the welded steel construction, they will hold up better than the Turbo II mufflers did.
